Accessing Your Online Yoga Class

How to connect via Zoom

FAQ about zoom

From Zoom website: Important Notice: Please update all of your Zoom applications to version 5.0 or higher. After May 30, 2020, all Zoom applications on older versions will receive a forced upgrade when trying to join meetings as GCM Encryption will be fully enabled across the Zoom platform. Learn more on how to update your Zoom application or update now.

If you book a single class via the booking system:

You will get an email with a link. Simply press on the link and it will take you to a “waiting room”. When I open up the waiting room you will join the space.

Using the links via the Monthly Membership site:

Each week by Wednesday (usually before) I will update the link on the membership page. The links should be hyperlinked and will take you to a “waiting room”. When I open up the waiting room you will join the space.

What is Zoom?

It’s an online meeting platform and you don’t need a personal account. But you do need the software which you can download here. Please make sure it is up to date (see note at the top of this post) otherwise it will not work.

What if I can’t access Zoom?

Make sure you have downloaded the Zoom software. Make sure it is up to date (see note at the top of this post). You might have to delete an old version and download the new version 5.0 or higher.

Also, go through the link you get in the Monthly Membership or confirmation email (for single classes) rather than the app. That seems to work better. That is: use the link. Or copy and paste the link into your web-browser, not your own Zoom account/App.

Familiarise yourself with Zoom before the class and try to access early in case you experience problems. Once the class starts I am off emails/messages and can not respond. I am also not an expert in tech or Zoom!

Read this from Zoom.

What if I miss a class?

Zoom classes are live sessions. If you are in the Monthly Membership you have access to a video recording of the session (filmed on a separate camera). If you purchased a one-off class it has to be accessed live.

What if I am late or have to leave early?

I keep an eye on the screen in case you enter the waiting room late. But please join early or on time to avoid me missing you – and you miss out on the class. If you need to leave early no problem. Make sure you take time to rest for a moment though!

Videos and microphones

You don’t need to have a camera on although I love seeing you and watch how you are moving! I will mute you all once the class starts as there will be a strange feedback sound and background noise otherwise.

What if zoom crashes or there is a bad internet connection?

Hopefully, this won’t happen. But these are unforeseen circumstances that none of us is in control off. I highly recommend joining the Monthly Membership as you will have recordings of all the classes in there – and at just £15 per month, it makes it better value than just two monthly classes.

Looking forward to seeing you on the mat
