Getting in touch with our feminine energy and sacred pelvis

Reconnecting to our feminine power

Get in touch with our feminine energy and sacred pelvis

Do you feel shut down from your feminine sensual power? Disconnected from you Goddess or Shakti energy? Or simply just have zero connection or sensation around your pelvis and breasts?

Yes, I know these are intimate questions and we generally do not talk about it. But we might talk or simply worry about the symptoms of this kind of disconnection.

From a very physical point of view, you may have a lack of libido, there is little pleasure when having sex, there may be no interest in sex at all. Maybe we feel afraid to stand our ground, speak up, not feeling like we can embody the power of our feminine sensuality… Or we overcompensate by being sexually aggressive yet not enjoying sensual touch and intimacy.

Disconnected from the pelvis?

I thought about this a while back. I went to my GP surgery for my regular smear test (PAP) and generally, I don’t mind these kinds of tests. I don’t get tense or nervous. I just get it done and it’s done. No problem.

However, this time it felt different. I felt a stronger physical sensation when the nurse took the sample. And I felt uncomfortable. It was not that it was painful as such, it wasn’t really traumatic. I can breathe and relax into the process and I don’t resist. But something was different. I felt slight discomfort and unease the whole day. Even if it wasn’t a traumatic or violent incident I still felt kind of violated. I felt like I needed to comfort my womb – and myself.

Then I realised why this time was different. I was present in my pelvis. As in really and truly aware of the energetics and the physical sensations at my roots. And having someone introducing metal instruments and removing some of my cells are actually rather invasive. Even if it is done in good faith and for preventative healthcare.

How often do we shut down our awareness of our pelvis?

Then I started wondering: how often do we shut down our awareness of our pelvis? Every time we have a gynaecological exam? How about when you have your period? Are you comfortable experiencing the sensations when you bleed and any cramps/aches/dullness?

How many times have you had sex that wasn’t really that fulfilling and you kind of shut off the not so comfortable sensations? Or you might have denied yourself feeling pleasurable sensations because good girls don’t get horny/feel sexy/want sex? Maybe when you were first discovering your sexuality it was shamed. Or maybe you feel ashamed of how you experimented with the expression of your sensuality? Maybe you had a traumatic birth or postpartum experience?

Are you even aware of the muscles around your pelvic area and pelvic floor are tense, tight, strong, flexible, lax?

The more I work with wombyn (and of course my own practice), whether in person or in my online courses like Sacred Pelvis course, I notice how little physical awareness we actually have. We don’t even know our own anatomy. Many of us are disconnected from our physiology by shutting down our hormonal cycle taking the Pill or HRT for years. We just haven’t been educated.

I am learning to listen to my body, my feminine powers and they guide me through life.

Through my own practice, I have started to get more in touch with my feminine power and my pelvic bowl. I learn to ride the waves, I am more present and aware. I notice the shifts during my monthly cycle. I notice how I might tense my pelvic floor in certain situations.

These are powers. Not weaknesses. I am learning to listen to my body, my feminine powers and they guide me through life.

This is a mindfulness practice and it’s empowering. It is living with our body rather than against it. And in this way also living with our energetic, mental and emotional expression rather than against. It’s learning to live fully.

The feminine rising

So how do we get in touch with our feminine energy?

Get educated. Know your anatomy, your muscles, the pelvic floor… It is tense, relaxed, tight or strong? Our feminine anatomy is incredibly fascinating. That’s why I created the Sacred Pelvis online course. We learn about our anatomy. Then we have practices to bring awareness to the pelvis, learn how to relax the muscles and to strengthen them. We also explore other techniques like abdominal massage to get more embodied and grounded in our bodies.

Embrace your cyclic nature. Start charting your menstrual cycle. If you are not menstruating then chart with the moon. How do you feel at menstruation and ovulation and the times in-between? Or if not menstruating how is your energy at the full moon and through the full lunar cycle?

Do stay tuned if you want more menstrual awareness. Sign up for my updates as there will be an exciting announcement soon.

Breathe. Take time to relax and reconnect to your breath. The breath connects with the pelvic floor. It gets you grounded. It makes you feel and become aware. We practice several breaths and pelvic awareness meditations in the Sacred Pelvis course.

yoni mudra meditation

Meditation. Resting your hands over your womb space (the very lower abdomen, just above the pubic bones). Feel the warmth of your hands relaxing any tension, resistance and stress around your womb. Notice or imagine this space. Your sacred centre.

How does it feel today? Are there any sensations, colours, messages? If not, no worries. Just sit there, feel the warmth of your hands and the waves of your breath.

Do have a look at the Sacred Pelvis online course to get more practical tips and ideas to reconnect to your sacred pelvis and feminine energy.

It’s never too late to introduce these practices into our life. They are powerful yet so simple. I would love to hear your experiences from the simple breathing and meditation practices? Did they work for you? What do you feel and experience?
